Top Point Drives of the Race
- Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) • 29 points • winning his hometown Grand Prix after qualifying first on Saturday
- Valtteri Bottas (Kick Sauber) • 25 points • earning best places gained moving from 17th to 13th
- Oscar Piastri (McLaren) • 22 points • claiming second place after qualifying P2
Our Game
I discovered that the Prediction Form circulated Saturday was based on Lance Stroll (qualified 13th) listed as qualifying 18th along with Zhou Guanyu. This resulted in Stroll and Guanyu being listed together in Row 9; other drivers in start grid positions from 14th through 17th were assigned to Rows 7 and 8.
I have decided to void all players’ Row 9 predictions. The Row 7 and 8 predictions stand.
Considerations:
- The Row 7 and Row 8 Form options were based on drivers who were positioned consecutively on the grid and posed an appropriate selection choice for our game’s players.
- The Row 9 options were distorted by a form composition error and may have led to players basing selections based on perceived scoring opportunity.
- Scoring for drivers is always based on their actual grid start positions, not on their published grid positions, due to grid penalties or other racing considerations. (There can be changes between the published grid and actual grid.)
In summary:
As organizer of this game, I did not feel that those selecting Zhou Guanyu, who scored better during the race than Lance Stroll, nor those selecting Lance Stroll, who appeared to have more potential to score points due to starting further back in the field, should be at any advantage or disadvantage.
I regret I made this error in composing the Prediction Form. I take measures to ensure my transcriptions are correct, but this one slipped by, unfortunately. I don’t believe I can please everyone with this resolution, but I hope I have mitigated the effect of the error I made. ~Michael
