🏁 Hamilton Wins 100th as Norris’s Gamble Fails to Pay Off at Sochi

September 26, 2021

image-4

Lewis Hamilton took his 100th Grand Prix victory in a Russian Grand Prix that started in dry conditions and ended under rain, the Mercedes driver making a late switch to intermediate tyres to take the lead when pole-sitter Lando Norris agonisingly slid out of the lead with just two laps left. Max Verstappen made it from P20 to P2, and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz took third having started second.

Top Point Drives of the Day

  1. Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing-Honda): 43 points, as an engine change and resulting last-row start could not stop him from finishing on the podium
  2. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes): 35 points, winning after qualifying miscues put him P4
  3. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes): 28 points, finishing 5th from the 8th row

Our Game

Players rooting for Kimi Räikkönen won the day as he scored 19 points to Yuki Tsunoda’s 0. Ian, John Cavelti and John Lo led the way with tied scores. John Lo built his season lead out further, while Ian and John Cavelti inched closer to Danielle and Wes, in 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
