2020 Formula 1 Season Postponed

March 14, 2020

Hello, all 2019 Formula 1 players,

I would like to thank those players who have confirmed their participation for 2020 this week. The season is disappointingly, but sensibly, on hold for now. Entry fees collected so far are being held on account.

Please stay tuned to the news, and the messages from the Prediction Challenges! web site, as to when we can once again enjoy Formula 1 racing and our game.

Please stay healthy!

Hamilton Dominant to End Season at Abu Dhabi

December 2, 2019
image

As the curtain came down on the 2019 Formula 1 season, Lewis Hamilton enjoyed a silky smooth evening beneath the floodlights at Abu Dhabi to record his 11th win of the season, ahead of the Red Bull of Max Verstappen and the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc.

Top Point Drives of the Day

  1. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) 37 points: pit lane to P4
  2. Lewis Hamilton (Merceds) 29 points: a straightforward pole to first place victory, the 19th of his career to match Ayrton Senna, along with the race’s fastest lap
  3. Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing-Honda) 21 points: a second place finish after a front-row qualification

Our Game

The final grand prix of the year did not result in a change in our standings, but did feature Tim earning a perfect score, having the best driver chosen in all scoring rows.

Congratulations to Evan upon winning his first Formula 1 Prediction Challenge! Ian and John earn our second and third place podium spots and the prizes that go along with them.

I hope all players enjoyed this Formula 1 Prediction Challenge! and the chance to match wits with other auto racing fans! Thank you for playing! ~ Michael

Verstappen, Gasly, Sainz Top Wild Race at Interlagos

November 18, 2019
image-3

Having come agonisingly close to winning at Interlagos last year before his coming together with Esteban Ocon, a brilliant performance from Max Verstappen saw him convert pole position into his third win of the 2019 season – while a mind-boggling final few laps saw both Ferraris sensationally clash and retire, and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton tip the other Red Bull of Alex Albon out of second, allowing Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly to finish a sensational P2…

Top Point Drives of the Day

  1. Carlos Sainz Jr. (McLaren-Renault) 40 points: a pit lane start did not prevent a podium finish and the second-best drive in our game this season
  2. Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo Racing-Ferrari) 28 points: a fifth-place finish from P12 for his best race of the year
  3. Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing-Honda) 25 points: a win from pole position which was not as easy as it might sound

Our Game

A chaotic race nevertheless didn’t have much effect on our standings as there was only a 5-point difference between John Cavelti’s and Tim’s day-best scores and five other players. Michael’s selections have likely cost him a shot at a season-end prize.

Brazilian Grand Prix Predictions

November 17, 2019

Formula 1 2018Our predictions have largely gone to form in advance of what might be an eventful race, as only five rows are in play, and three more have just one outsider being chosen. We’re mostly uncertain how Keven Magnussen will do versus Lando Norris in Row 5 as well as on the Sergio Pérez-Daniil Kvyat matchup in Row 8.

Good luck, and enjoy the Brazilian Grand Prix!

Bottas Pole to Pole, Hamilton World Champ in Austin

November 3, 2019
image-1

Valtteri Bottas’ fourth win of the season at the United States Grand Prix wasn’t enough to deny his Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton from claiming a historic sixth world title, the Briton finishing the race in second, having fended off a late attack from Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

Top Point Drives of the Day

  1. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) 32 points: a disappointing 5th place in qualifying didn’t prevent him from clinching the Drivers’ Championship in 2nd-place style
  2. Sergio Perez (Racing Point-BWT Mercedes) 26 points: a points finish after a pit lane start
  3. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) 25 points: a flawless race from pole position earned him his fourth season victory

Our Game

All ten rows scored points and John Cavelti nearly ran the table, coming up only five points short of a perfect score. John’s excellent day solidified his hold on third place with two races to go, and puts him within striking distance of Ian in second place. Evan continues to lead the way with an 18-point margin over Ian.

United States Grand Prix Predictions

November 3, 2019

Formula 1 2018In contrast to a week ago, our predictions have followed a strong pattern and have left only five rows in play.  The matchups to watch are the front row battle between Valtteri Bottas and Sebastian Vettel as they seek victory and respect within their teams and from Row 8, where Antionio Giovinazzi and Romain Grosjean look to score any kind of a result.

Good luck, and enjoy the United States Grand Prix!

The Prediction Form is now available, based on qualifying information available at this time and is must be submitted by 10:00 Pacific Time Sunday. The race begins at 11:10.
