Following his sensational wet weather pole position on Saturday, Lewis Hamilton secured a comfortable victory in the Styrian Grand Prix, winning out over his Mercedes team mate Valtteri Bottas and the Red Bull of Max Verstappen – while Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc collided on Lap 1, causing race-ending damage for both.

Thanks to everyone for their patience; the results for this Grand Prix are still provisional as per the results at Formula1.com. (One can consider this post to be likewise provisional!)

Top Point Drives of the Day

  1. Sergio Pérez (Racing Point-BWT Mercedes) 33 points: a top six finish from 17th
  2. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) 25 points: a perfect weekend qualifying and on race day
  3. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) 20 points: a finish behind teammate Hamilton after a disappointing 4th in qualifying

Our Game

The second round of our game was easier to predict, with John Cavelti now just behind the podium group with his top effort of the day, earning 159 of a possible 170 points. Wes still leads over Ian, with Michael slipping back into third place.

Bottas Wins War of Attrition at Spielberg

July 5, 2020

He may have led every lap, but Valtteri Bottas says he had to “dodge many bullets” to claim victory in the season-opening Austrian Grand Prix, as he survived race-long pressure from Mercedes team mate and defending champion Lewis Hamilton, plus three Safety Car appearances and “critical” gearbox issues.

Top Point Drives of the Day

  1. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) 29 points: a disappointing qualifying redeemed by a second-place finish
  2. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) 26 points: a perfect weekend qualifying and on race day
  3. With 9 drivers not finishing and 7 not classified, anybody else who finished the race, including Nicholas Latifi (Williams-Mercedes) in his first race.

Our Game

All players struggled overall as nobody approached the maximum possible score of 163. Michael led the way with 97 points, picking the better driver in four of the eight rows that earned points.
