FIFA World Cup: An Introduction
The FIFA World Cup is the final round of a competition held every four years. The competition is open to each FIFA national association, and nearly two years of playoffs brings the field down to 32 teams. The World Cup is the most-watched sporting event in the world.

The Prediction Challenge game is scored out of 500 points:

The points will be awarded as follows.
Group Stage (100 Points)
Object: Predict the correct order of finish in each group.
10 points for getting a group in the correct order, less 2 points for each position incorrect (max 80, min 0)
10 bonus points for getting the most qualifiers (top 2 in each group) correct (max 10)
10 bonus points for getting the most groups exactly correct (max 10)
Round of 16 (100 points)
Object: Predict the eight game winners and the scores
5 points for each correct winner, max 40
5 points for each correct score, less 2 point for each goal incorrect (max 40, min 0)
10 bonus points for getting most winners correct (max 10)
10 bonus points for getting most scores correct (max 10)
Quarter-Finals (100 points)
Object: Predict the four game winners and the scores
10 points for each correct winner, max 40
10 points for each correct score, less 4 points for each goal incorrect (max 40, min 0)
10 bonus points for getting most winners correct (max 10)
10 bonus points for getting most scores correct (max 10)
Semi-Finals (100 points)
Object: Predict the two game winners and the scores
20 points for each correct winner, max 40
20 points for each correct score, less 8 points for each goal incorrect, max 40
10 bonus points for getting most winners correct (max 10)
10 bonus points for getting most scores correct (max 10)
Final (100 points)
Object: Predict the FIFA World Cup winner and the Final Game score
50 points for getting the winner right
50 points for predicting the score correctly, less 15 points for each incorrect goal. (min 0, max 50)
Tiebreaker (Play-off for third place)
Predict the World Cup third place finisher and the third-place game score
50 points for getting the winner right
50 points for predicting the score correctly, less 15 points for each incorrect goal. (min 0, max 50)
Note: If any of the knockout rounds or Final is decided on penalty kicks, the penalty kicks do not count in the score. The score is considered to be what was achieved during regulation and overtime play.

If players are still tied, the following tiebreakers apply:
1. Best score in the Final Round
2. Best score in the Semifinal Round
3. Best score in the Quarterfinal Round
4. Best score in the Round of 16
