Wimbledon Prediction Challenge! Rules

The game is scored out of 400 points, 100 points for each of the four rounds. You receive an entry form, make some simple predictions, and then cross your fingers. If you’re good, you will do as well as those who are lucky, perpetuating the sporting world’s most enduring rivalry.


Prizes

All entry fees form the prize pool.


Cost

$10 cash, cheque, Interac Transfer or PayPal to play, payable upon entry.

There is no limit to the number of players. One entry per person is permitted.


Points

Quarterfinals (eight matches)–100 points

Matches are best-of-five sets for men, best-of-three sets for women

Five points for getting match winner right
Five points for getting match set score exactly right
Men: 2 points taken off for each set incorrect, with lowest possible score being zero
Women: 4 points taken off for each set incorrect, with lowest possible score being zero
10 bonus points to players with most correct match predictions
10 bonus points to players getting most match set scores exactly right
Maximum Score: 100

Semifinals (four matches)–100 points

Matches are best-of-five sets for men, best-of-three sets for women

Ten points for getting match winner right
Ten points for getting match set score exactly right
Men: 3 points taken off for each set incorrect, with lowest possible score being zero
Women: 6 points taken off for each set incorrect, with lowest possible score being zero
10 bonus points to players with most correct match predictions
10 bonus points to players getting most match set scores exactly right
Maximum Score: 100

Women’s Final (one match)–100 points

Match is best-of-three sets

Fifty points for getting match winner right
Fifty points for getting match set score exactly right
30 points taken off for each set incorrect, with lowest possible score being zero
Maximum Score: 100

Men’s Final (one match)–100 points

Match is best-of-five sets

Fifty points for getting match winner right
Fifty points for getting match set score exactly right
15 points taken off for each set incorrect, with lowest possible score being zero
Maximum Score: 100

Players do not earn points in rounds for which they do not submit predictions.

Predictions must include the winning player winning the maximum number of possible sets. If a player wins due to an opponent’s retirement, the score will be recorded as if the winning player had won the maximum number of sets, losing player with the actual number sets of won.

Tiebreaker

If players are tied at the end of the game on points, the tie will be broken based on the following:

1) Most points in the Men’s Final round
2) Most points in the Women’s Final round
3) Most points in the Semifinals round
4) Most points in the Quarterfinals round
